Therapeutic Services

All Therapeutic services at Let's Play SA! are implemented by a registered Social Worker with a Masters Degree. Nicole has further qualifications in Psychology, Child-Centred Play Therapy and Integrative Psychotherapy.

We believe in a person-centered and strengths-based approach to therapy. We recognise that each individual possesses unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives that shape their journey toward healing and growth.

Our therapeutic services are grounded in the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives. Through compassionate listening and genuine empathy, we honor and validate each person's story, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-determination.

By highlighting and building upon clients' strengths and resources, we help them tap into their innate resilience and capabilities. This strengths-based approach encourages clients to leverage their strengths as tools for overcoming challenges and achieving their goals.

At Let's Play SA! Therapeutic Services, our commitment to being person-centered and strengths-based informs every aspect of our work. By combining this approach with evidence-based modalities and biopsychosocial assessments, we create a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment where individuals and families can thrive.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Forms one of the cornerstones of our services, providing practical tools to identify and modify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. Backed by extensive research, CBT is effective in treating anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders in children, teens, and adults alike. Moreover, CBT is inherently strengths-based as it focuses on building upon the client's existing strengths and resources. Through guided exploration and experimentation, clients learn to recognise their innate capabilities and develop new skills to cope with challenges. By highlighting and reinforcing these strengths throughout the therapeutic process, CBT fosters a sense of empowerment and self-efficacy in clients.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness techniques are integrated into our practice to cultivate present-moment awareness and promote emotional regulation and stress reduction. Supported by a growing body of research, mindfulness has been shown to enhance overall well-being and resilience across all age groups. Mindfulness integrates person-centered and strengths-based principles by fostering self-acceptance, self-awareness, and self-compassion. By cultivating a deeper connection with one's inner resources and experiences, mindfulness empowers individuals to harness their strengths and navigate life's challenges with resilience and authenticity.

Family Counselling

Our family counseling services provide a supportive and collaborative space for families to navigate challenges, improve communication, and strengthen relationships. Grounded in systemic theories, family counseling promotes understanding, empathy, and harmony within the family unit. Additionally, family counseling promotes a collaborative and egalitarian approach to problem-solving and decision-making within the family system. Therapists encourage open communication, active listening, and empathy among family members, facilitating a deeper understanding of each other's perspectives and needs. This collaborative process honors the autonomy and agency of each family member, empowering them to contribute to the therapeutic process and make meaningful changes within the family system.

Relationship counseling

We offer couples a safe environment to explore dynamics, address conflicts, and enhance connection and intimacy. Research indicates that relationship counseling can improve communication, satisfaction, and overall relationship quality for couples of all ages. Additionally, relationship counseling encourages couples to adopt a collaborative and empathetic approach to problem-solving and decision-making. Therapists facilitate open dialogue, active listening, and empathy between partners, fostering a deeper understanding of each other's perspectives and needs. This collaborative process honors the autonomy and agency of each partner, empowering them to co-create solutions that are mutually beneficial and sustainable.

Narrative therapy

Another integral part of our approach, focuses on exploring and reshaping personal narratives to empower individuals and families to overcome challenges and create positive change. Narrative therapy has shown promise in enhancing self-esteem, resilience, and agency in children, teens, and adults. Moreover, narrative therapy emphasises the identification and amplification of clients' strengths and abilities within their stories. Therapists work alongside clients to identify instances of resilience, courage, and resourcefulness embedded within their narratives. By highlighting these strengths, clients are encouraged to view themselves as agents of change capable of overcoming challenges and creating new possibilities for themselves.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation equips clients with knowledge and skills to better understand their experiences and challenges, empowering them to make informed decisions and take proactive steps towards their goals. With a strong evidence base supporting its effectiveness, psychoeducation serves as a valuable adjunct to therapy across all age groups. Additionally, psychoeducation encourages a collaborative and interactive approach to learning, where clients are actively engaged in the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to their mental health. Therapists facilitate discussions, provide resources, and offer practical strategies for managing symptoms and enhancing well-being. This collaborative process honors clients' unique learning styles, preferences, and goals, ensuring that psychoeducation is tailored to meet their individual needs.

Biopsychosocial Assessments

Through the biopsychosocial model, we acknowledge the whole and the interconnectedness of biological, psychological, and social factors in shaping our experiences and challenges. Through biopsychosocial assessments, we delve deep into understanding the unique circumstances and needs of each client. These assessments form the foundation of our therapeutic interventions, allowing us to develop personalised treatment plans that address the multifaceted aspects of each individual's life.

eCPR

Emotional CPR (eCPR) is a transformative modality in our therapeutic approach. eCPR is a person-centered, strengths-based practice designed to support individuals in crisis by fostering emotional connection, empowerment, resilience and revitalisation.
Incorporating principles of empathy, compassion, and non-judgment, eCPR provides a holistic framework for navigating emotional distress and crisis situations. We utilise eCPR techniques to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to express their emotions authentically. Through eCPR, clients are guided to explore their emotional experiences, identify their strengths and resources, and develop personalised coping strategies for managing crisis situations. By fostering connection and collaboration, eCPR empowers clients to navigate challenges with resilience and emerge stronger from their experiences. We are committed to providing compassionate and effective support to individuals in crisis through the transformative power of Emotional CPR. Whether you're facing a personal crisis or seeking support for a loved one, we can help you navigate through your journey toward healing and recovery."
